Those of you who know me know I’m always scared of linking to or praising any conservative family groups. I am a conservative and I do value families but I think that some times these groups pick the wrong battles and give the rest of us a bad name. However, I received an email this morning from Joe Carter of Evangelical Outpost that almost knocked me off of my chair. Joe is the Director of Web Communications for Family Research Council.
Below is what he emailed me:
I don't like to pitch stories to bloggers, but this is an issue that I think deserves our attention. My sources say that the funding of this program--which funds HIV testing for infants to prevent HIV related infections--was blocked by low-level staffers from the CDC. Why? Who knows? But all too often this is "how things get done" in D.C. Some unelected staffer sneaks in wording that circumvents the will of both the American people and our representatives.
To say that I am beyond disgusted would be a gross understatement. In this day why is anything that could prevent AIDS being tossed out? Even more beyond my understanding is the fact that a Republican tried to put the money back in and a Democrat blocked the attempt.
Aren’t Liberals supposed to be the ones giving money away to everybody with a crutch? This goes against anything I’ve ever learned. And why is there even a disagreement on this issue? Pro Life vs. Pro Choice to marry Gays or not to marry Gays – there is so much division but we can all get on board with the not letting babies have AIDS thing right? D.C. is a joke.
